ASSESSMENT

The initial SLP assessment is a mandatory, structured step. It begins with an interview to understand the reason for consultation, followed by observations and standardized tests to identify difficulties and strengths, culminating in a report, recommendations, and an intervention plan.

Assessment of orofacial myofunctional disorder (OMD)

$300

The assessment of orofacial myofunctional disorder allows for the analysis of dysfunctions related to the muscles of the mouth, face, and throat, which can affect speech, swallowing, breathing, and other functions.

 

The evaluation is carried out using questionnaires, direct observation, formal and informal tests and various measurements.

 

The price includes the following services:

  • file opening fees

  • 1 evaluation meeting (1-1.5 hours)

  • 1 results presentation meeting

  • the time required to draft the evaluation report

  • the time required to develop the intervention plan

  • contact with the dentist/orthodontist (if needed)

Comprehensive assessment of oral/speech language

$300

The speech-language pathology assessment aims to create a comprehensive picture of the client's language and speech. It allows for the establishment of specific objectives, which are then defined in a personalized intervention plan.

 

The assessment is conducted using questionnaires, discussions with family and friends (if needed), formal tests, and informal tests (e.g., conversation, activities). The fee includes the following services:

  • file opening fees

  • 1 to 2 evaluation meetings

  • drafting the evaluation report

  • development of the intervention plan

  • 1 results presentation meeting

Oral/written language assessment

$300 initial consultation + $270/additional session

The comprehensive assessment is conducted through parent questionnaires, discussions with the school team, formal testing, and analysis of schoolwork. The basic fee includes the following services:

  • 1 assessment meeting (60 minutes)

  • analysis and drafting of the evaluation report

  • development of the intervention plan

  • 1 results presentation meeting

  • discussion with school team / other professional as needed

 

* Please note: several sessions (1 to 3) may be required to complete the assessment, depending on the complexity of the issues. Each additional session costs $270. The older the child, the more complex the case may be, potentially requiring multiple sessions.

Assessment of voice/swallowing/stuttering disorders/acquired disorders (TBI, stroke, dementia)

$300

Assessment

The assessment is conducted using questionnaires, clinical observations, targeted tasks, and informal tests. This process allows for an in-depth analysis of the presenting concerns and the development of specific recommendations and an individualized intervention plan.

 

The fee includes the following services:

  • File opening and administrative fees

  • One assessment session (1 to 1.5 hours)

  • One results feedback session

  • Time allocated for writing the assessment report

  • Time dedicated to developing the intervention plan

  • Communication with other healthcare professionals, if needed

 

Areas of Concern

  • Voice Disorders

Voice assessment aims to identify and analyze difficulties related to voice use, such as hoarseness, vocal fatigue, variations in pitch or loudness, and any discomfort experienced during oral communication.

  • Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia)

Swallowing assessment aims to identify and analyze difficulties related to eating, including sensations of food sticking, coughing during meals, choking, or discomfort when swallowing. The goal is to ensure safe and functional oral intake.

  • Stuttering

Stuttering assessment focuses on analyzing disruptions in speech fluency, including repetitions and blocks, as well as their impact on communication and self-confidence.

  • Acquired Disorders (TBI, Stroke, Dementia)

Assessment of acquired disorders aims to identify and analyze communication or swallowing difficulties resulting from a traumatic brain injury, stroke, or neurodegenerative diseases. The goal is to adapt rehabilitation strategies to improve independence and quality of life.
